You can still have gnome and kde installed in order to run apps that need them, but when you aren't running anything except csound, it works great and is very lightweight. Heck I even use the gnome terminal. And I love fluxbox for dev stuff, the docking tabs are so handy, you get lots of data on screen, and adding keybindings to jump around is dead simple. attached is my process list ( with mozilla and a term open. ) Iain |

I don't have gam_server running at all on flux box, you might want to try it, while I like the look and feel of gnome for regular day to day use, flux box is really nice for coding. It can still run gnome and kde apps though, from flux box. The dyne:bolic distro uses window maker or flux box. I use the Blackbox WM exclusively on my Red Hat systems, Fluxbox on my AGNULA machine. All my machines are perpetually underpowered, I've never been able to afford a state-of-the-art machine, so low resource consumption has always been a factor here at Studio Dave. In my pompous opinion GNOME and KDE and very nice-looking hogs, though I'll bet they dance nicely after a couple gigahertz. :) Best, dp ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc.
