[Cs-dev] Serious Audio Explosion - Csound5.05 - OS X 10.4.9

Subject[Cs-dev] Serious Audio Explosion - Csound5.05 - OS X 10.4.9
Dear List and Developers...

My ears are still ringing - burning actually.

I ran an old working MIDIfile soundfont2 example orchestra designed
for the OLPC system by my student Angel Senties...

http://csounds.com/olpc/angelMIDI.zip

using the following commandline:

csound -odac -dm0 -TF/Users/dB/Desktop/angelMIDI/angelListen.mid /
Users/dB/Desktop/angelMIDI/angelListen.csd

Using Csound5.04 and OSX 10.4.9 on an Intel Mac (Rosetta) and also
with the MacCsound FrontEnd.

PERFECT and CLEAN

Using Csound5.05 and OSX 10.4.9 on an Intel Mac (Rosetta)

using the following commandline:

csound -odac -dm0 -TF/Users/dB/Desktop/angelMIDI/angelListen.mid /
Users/dB/Desktop/angelMIDI/angelListen.csd

8 zillion samples out of range - and serious ear damage....

Are the soundfont opcodes busted.... is it the sample format? I
tried portaudio too... same painful explosion.

HELP.

-dB

No it was not.

There is a serious Endian issue on intel macs.... (that is not an
issue on PPC macs)

Soundfont opcode is completely busted. (at least reading soundfounts
anyway.)
Fluid stuff is busted (or at least reading soundfonts)
All my soundfont and fluid orchestras don't work anymore in the intel
machine.
There is a problem with .aifs and .wavs too. I think .wav is the
worst... .aifs seem to be working still

sndwarp explodes almost everytime i use it

reverbs blow up like i have never before experienced - thank God I
wasn't wearing headphones at the time or I would be DEAF.

i have a major Csound5 performance this weekend - using three laptops
- and wiiMotes to control Csound5
i am still working on the piece - and trying to tame the beast!
Soooooo - wish I could be more specific for you all. But it may have
to wait a bit.

hummmmmmmm well, we need to share some cores and scores....

barry vercoe just compiled a new version of csound for me to do some
olpc work - and...
it works great on linux, windows, ppc mac but won't play .aif or .wav
files on intel mac.

more to share... but off to the airport right now...

Is this something I need to fix? Not a problem I've addressed ever
before? Is the endian stuff the same as the wintel compile, is there
just a little flag to add somewhere? :)

Or is it a hard problem ....

cheers, J (stinking cold euw).

Hi,
Yes, there were some optimizations made by John for version 5.05, and
the problem might be there, but I'm having a look (opcodes/sfont.c line
438), but see nothing obviously wrong with the current state. Does it
also happen if you use the mono version of the opcode, or the
interpolation version?

Sorry,
Andrés
