| On my Toshiba Qosmio, 1 GB RAM, Intel T2400 CPU at 1.83 GHz, I rendered
examples/trapped-high-resolution.csd using Csound 5.04.1 beta on:
Windows XP Media Center Edition version 2002 SP 2: CPU 103.462 seconds
Ubuntu 6.10: CPU 95.570 seconds.
Several trials had comparable results. Both versions were compiled with gcc
3.4 and g++ 3.4.
So, in response to an earlier thread, Csound rendering -- other things being
equal, which they rarely are -- should run about 8% faster on Linux.
I will report on gcc 4.1 later.
Regards,
Mike
