Ok i went through the code i checked in today and Istvan messed around with EVERYTHING i contributed, including one file where all he did was DELETE A SPACE in a comment! Istvan, do you have some kind of mental disorder or something, that makes you muddle around in every trivial detail? Or do you think i am inferior and you have to double-check everything i submit, making sure i dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't'? Or are you trying to keep your claim of ownership over the code? Or do you have something personal against me? or what? Some of your changes i think are under some wrong assumptions and should not have been made [**] But more importantly, it is incredibly frustrating to see code i recently worked on be totally rearranged -- and i don't know about others, but this REALLY pisses me off! Regardless of how much you think you are improving it, you are really being disrespectful to me and the little contribution i have to the code base. This just is not how you treat other people trying to collaborate with you! ** i restored my code from this morning for invalue/outvalue, you went way over the line with your changes!!! and i really think those "early return" messages should NOT be displayed on ANY platform -- they look like an error but there should be nothing wrong with that at least when csoundYield returns false as a "please stop now" request. users are going to ask why that message is printing every time they stop a render. i think there was more issues too but i already wasted my little free time i have dealing with this crap instead of writing code and now have to call it a night. -m _______________________________________________ Csound-devel mailing list Csound-devel@lists.sourceforge.net |

This is very obviously, a communication breakdown. In the vast majority of communication breakdowns, both sides are at fault for not communicating. > Ever thought that this type of change is done by an automated script > that is run on all source files, Scripts like this are a good idea, but everyone should be aware of their existance and everyone should be strongly encouraged to use them. So Matt, Istvan, you both need to work on communicating and and stop the public temper tantrums. this list was unfortunately down during all this and that post was sent 2 days ago. before i started the other communication with you directly [ most of which was cc'd to this list ] sorry i should have warned you more was coming. i think we have since come to an understanding. but again all i am asking is a little courtesy working with others -- even if they write crappier code than you -- this is a collaborative effort, right? > > > Ever thought that this type of change is done by an automated script > that is run on all source files, and is not some kind of personal > attack ? i thought it might be the case, but in the heat of the moment it just contributed to my reaction -- seeing every single file i checked in re-touched by you. > > You may have a point about this, but I think the message should be > printed when the performance is aborted for some reason (like calling > Die() on an error), so that users know that there was an error, rather > than normal end of score; in any case, this is definitely not the most > useless one of the lots of messages printed. the more useless messages moved to 'verbose', the more the better imo > Also, other hosts tend to stop performance by simply not calling > the "perform" functions, rather than using a yield callback. well i am calling performbuffer() inside different thread that handles the user interaction. -m@ ________________________ matt ingalls http://sfsound.org/matt.html _______________________________________________ Csound-devel mailing list Csound-devel@lists.sourceforge.net |
