[Cs-dev] Next release

FromJohn ffitch
Subject[Cs-dev] Next release
there have been some significant new opcodes and major bug fixes so it
seems right to think of a new release. So, standard questions:

a) What do you think needs to be fixed before release?
b) Do you have stuff you want in the next release?
c) When is convenient to schedule it?

==John ffitch
There is not the vaguest truth in this.

I am still concerned with the possible bug with graphs/FLTK/partikkel,
which seems to be hard to track.
Has the 'pitch' opcode issue been fixed? (if so, what was the bug?)

>b) Do you have stuff you want in the next release?

yes, I think so.

Mid/end of May?

The opcode is the same on all platforms. If it's broken on the
mac, it's broken everywhere.

Can you give us a report?

Colin reported this some time back. I replied, which probably didn't
help much. I think that perhaps pitchamdf was broken but got fixed?
His instrument was something like this (I don't get the nan error that
he reported).

SubjectRe: [Cs-dev] Next release
Hello,

There are two things on my wish list:

1- The bug involving the use of pvsfreez
(http://www.nabble.com/random-glitch-with-this-CSD-tf3635671.html)
2- Some of the ATS opcodes are not really in a usable state (e.g. ATScross,
ATSbufread) and have never been. Is there a chance for a fix? I have written
to the creator but he is very busy and so a quick fix seems unlikely...What
are the options? I would love to be able to finally use ASTcross :-)

Subject[Cs-dev] pvsfreeze bug, or not really (was Re: Next release)
I don't think it's a pvsfreeze bug. I have commented out the
'blueEffect' lines in your CSD, and the click is still there.

I noticed that the csound printout shows 0.0 amp for one ksmps
block at 4.422:

new alloc for instr 5:
B 0.000 .. 1.234 T 1.234 TT 1.234 M: 11736.0 11828.0
new alloc for instr 2:
B 1.234 .. 2.516 T 2.516 TT 2.516 M: 10836.0 11832.0
new alloc for instr 3:
B 2.516 .. 4.422 T 4.422 TT 4.422 M: 10852.0 11832.0
new alloc for instr 4:
B 4.422 .. 4.422 T 4.422 TT 4.422 M: 0.0 0.0
B 4.422 .. 20.063 T 20.063 TT 20.063 M: 11736.0 11832.0
Score finished in csoundPerform().
inactive allocs returned to freespace
end of score. overall amps: 11736.0 11832.0
overall samples out of range: 0 0

And looking at the waveform, that's what I saw. The reason why
change ksmps changes the click is because it will change the
length of your zeroed block.

The blue CSD is very hard to read, so I could not isolate the
problem. I only know it's not pvsfreeze.

Victor

I can't see why, but I can confirm it's not only on disk write.

csound5gui. It would be great if it could get some testing and bug
fixing on windows and Mac. If this is not possible, maybe my changes
should be reverted, as it is unusable for many people in its current state.

Yes, I would like to integrate some of Gab's changes and new opcodes. I
have some changes I have not yet commited, since I was waiting for a bug
fix release. If no bug fix release will happen before the complete
release, can I commit these changes, so they can get proper testing?

I would also like to suggest making a beta release some time before the
official release, so that some of the big bugs can be looked at before
creating a proper release. This is useful because many testers do not
compile their own versions, but have offered useful bug reports. How
does that sound?

Cheers,
Andrés

I think it was determined that it was just a mac problem. Here was a
test by Dr. Richard Boulanger to see the output on a mac.

I still have some more code to tweak for the new FileOpen callback that I
added last weekend.

Victor's schedule sounds pretty good to me.
