It certainly depends on why you are searching.  Personally, I can see using
the same orc with many scores but I would usually not do the opposite.
Therefore the score seems more "specific" to a run than the orc to me, and I
would search the score's location first in most circumstances.

If it helps: In the data sonification I'm doing,  the score tends to be
generated once and the orc swapped/adjusted many times as the
user searches for an appropriate rendering.

I am still not sure that I agree with the majority (as is historically
the case) but I changed winsound to chdir to the directory of the
.csd/.orc file if it is an absolute address.  I suspect I have got
this wrong on Windows in some cases but this is closest to how I think
it should be done that I can manage before breakfast.
  I still think this is a frontend issue and not a core one.

what about search paths on the  Csound Lib. Would it
be possible to add the CSD,ORC and SCO (if different) paths
to the search?
