Subject[Csnd] Help sought: csound_tilde project maintainer/leader
Hi everyone,

we are seeking one or more volunteers to take on the the csound_tilde project
maintenance and further development.

This codebase was initiated by a third-party developer and later brought into
the core Csound repository. Now it has its own repository but there is no one
maintaining it.

The team are happy to support this but none of us uses MaxMSP or Ableton Live
and we do not have the spare capacity to take this on. This project will continue
stalled until a maintainer/leader takes it.

best regards

Hi,

I use max and Live and would be happy to help maintain it, especially on OSX. I have a version of the code from the new repo that builds/works, but not using cmake (just as an Xcode project, in the style of the max API examples).

I’m not sure if abandoning cmake for csound~ is desirable, but perhaps it would be easier to maintain separate Xcode and VS projects with the same source, like Cycling does? Alternatively I can try reconfiguring the cmake script as well.

Thanks,
Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,

Thanks very much for volunteering for this! Your work on the iOS SDK
has been great and I'm sure the community as a whole will benefit
greatly from your contributions here.

When I first migrated this to Csound's core repo, Davis Pyon's version
had separate XCode and VS projects. Having it in CMake was handy at
the time for building/debugging for me (it was simple to put in
breakpoints in libcsound or csound~ when they were all a part of the
same generated XCode project) and made migrating the code to work with
Csound 6 a lot easier. I'd say you're welcome to choose what you think
best for builds.

I'll email you off list in a moment to see about getting you setup for
direct commit access to the csound~ repo.

Thanks!
steven

Nikhil, I would be happy to donate two of my windows laptops to you, so that you could maintain on Windows as well.

It would be really great if you took on this role!
