Thanks a lot for the update, Dave! I guess, that's another
plaidoyer for platform-specific optimization techniques. I
for my part came to notice that, in some, but by no means rare
circumstances, csound spends more than 98% cpu time in floating
point exceptions (on SGI's typically, when an expseg's k-rate
increment gets too low). Since floating point exceptions are
not always easy to predict nor easy to avoid, and since noone
(I believe) really cares about float exceptions in dsp, I'll
disable them in the next (3.45) version of the IRIX 6.2 archive
that i keep on my server.
