[Csnd] csound.com

Hi All, FYI, I was transferred the csound.com domain a little bit ago (many thanks to Aurelius Prochazka for that!) and I've just gotten around to updating some of the settings. Previously the URL was directing to a host that had a redirect to csound.github.io. I've modified the csound.github.io project on Github to use csound.com and updated the domain settings so that csound.github.io *is* csound.com, and we can refer to csound.com from this point on. I'm thinking we should have a live, online Csound editor, hosted at try.csound.com (or something like that), and that we may want to brainstorm some ideas for other things (docs.csound.com maybe?) This sounds excellent to me. We could give some more visibility to the book examples that are hosted in github. Victor Lazzarini

so finally the unpleasant history of this domain has an end. good to see it in your hands, and it can simplify a lot of things, starting with better memorable URLs. thanks, steven! j On 26/10/17 03:02, Steven Yi wrote: > Hi All, > > FYI, I was transferred the csound.com domain a little bit ago (many > thanks to Aurelius Prochazka for that!) and I've just gotten around to > updating some of the settings. Thanks Steven, and sincerest thanks to Aurelius who acquired the domain in the first place at his own expense. try.csound.com sounds like a great idea. I'd be happy to have my live code page hosted there. I went ahead and got it setup such that live.csound.com now works and is hosted from github page for github.com/kunstmusik/csound-live-code. There's a snag about using custom domains and https/certificates with github.io, but the page is setup to not use microphone (which requires https) so I think it will be okay to serve without it. I've also setup a forward for http://docs.csound.com to go to http://csound.com/docs/manual. Figure it may be easier to remember for a quick lookup in the documentation. On Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 10:05 AM, Steven Yi |

Could you set up a picture for this page so that when it is shared on social media it comes up with a nice preview image? I think you can do this with an og.image property. ======================== Prof. Victor Lazzarini Dean of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy, Maynooth University, Maynooth, Co Kildare, Ireland Tel: 00 353 7086936 Fax: 00 353 1 7086952 > On 26 Oct 2017, at 15:05, Steven Yi |

Interesting, didn't think about OpenGraph settings. I've gone and set it up for title, desc, image, and url and have tested it with FB's Debugger and also by sharing it on Facebook. Looks like its working. :) On Thu, Oct 26, 2017 at 10:36 AM, Victor Lazzarini |

The "web" project at repl.it[1] is a nice way to view edit and experiment with simple web projects without needing any prior setting up. It might be nice to adapt a similar approach here, i.e, one can view and edit the .html, javascript and Csound code through tabs at the top of the page. I use repl.it and p5.js with my students for simple audio/visual experiments. No need to set anything up. It works out of the box.

Interesting, I may have to chat with you off list about this as I'm planning on teaching with p5.js Spring semester. I had been working on redoing the Csound Notebook a couple months ago: http://clj.kunstmusik.com/ but got sidetracked with Csound Conference preparations. The idea was to model it more after JSFiddle than the previous Csound Notebook site, which was sort of Evernote-like. I suppose the repl.it model and JSFiddle is not too different.
