This might be a good time to promote the use of client-end mail filters.
If you set up your mail filters to filter out messages with certain
words in the subject (i.e. [ot] or [OT]), or from certain senders, you
won't have to deal with this sort of message unless you really want to.
Freedom of speech is preserved, as well as the ability to sort messages
into on-topic and off-topic threads.

P.S. Since this is marked [ot], I might as well mention that I have
received several emails from a synth-diy list member in Novi Sad. The
bombing he describes is horrific. A quote from his last email, a few
weeks ago:
