Hi,
Latest versions of Csound have a spatial sound opcode (hrtfer) -
information on the bath site readmes etc. However, if you want to know
more about the psychophysics, psychology and physics of actual
spatial hearing (in both open and enclosed spaces) the most
comprehensive reference available is by J.Blauert and called "Spatial
Hearing", a 1997 edition has just come out (sorry I can't remember
the publishers).
For a more application based approach try a book by D.R. Begault
(1994) "3D sound for virtual reality and multimedia" AP Professional,
Cambridge, MA.
