A tool that might be of interest when you just start is VisOrc,
available at
http://www2.hku.nl/~perry/
It is a graphical design tool for C-sound orchestras. It represents
opcodes as devices, which you can interconnect. I like the idea,
because it is fairly close to the kind of diagrams that accompanied
articles about Csound's (conceptual) predecessors, such as MUSIC4. I
did some of the tutorials this way, and found it helpful.
