| Hi all,
I wouldn't post this question except happens in both versions, and it's
really bugging me in a big way.
When I use some files generated by cakewalk pro audio 5.0 and save them as
MIDI format 0, and then use them with the MIDI input parameter on Csound,
sometimes I get a page frame error in Win95, and sometimes I don't. I had
one file that generated an error, and trimmed it down to four supported
notes, and it always generated the error. Created another new file, and
pasted those notes in, and it never generated the error. Trouble is, the
file that did started out as the Cakewalk .wrk file that I prefer to work
with. Note that MIDI format 0 is so backward that it doesn't support track
names (at least in CPA). This error happens with Csound95 3.44 and the new
Win95 Csound version 3.45 with multiple language extensions. It happens
just as all of the table data is read in, and it starts the actual
performance. It happens using MIDIPerc.orc and MIDIPerc.sco posted at my
website: http://www.themall.net/~slvrsrfr.
Anybody found this error and a workaround for it? Will try to narrow it
down when I get back from Cancun ;)
P.S. The MIDIPerc.orc for GM MIDI percussion I recently announced had a
bug which caused it to not generate mono instruments. The untested fix,
soon to be tested, is posted. Did I mention that these files can easily be
adapted to looped GM instruments, as soon as I have a need to do that?
P.P.S. Will soon formally announce a suggestion for a general summit on a
Csound language standard, like they do with proper programming language.
Some glaring omissions can be corrected, so that the whole language works
together better, one central standard can be the basis for upgrading, and
overlapping new ugen functionality/irregular syntax can be avoided. As a
former career programmer, I believe that it improves your result
considerably if you design it well first.
