It dawned to me that there must exist (maybe in some other galaxy, in a
weird subdir called
"drunk elephants, rided by Fitch" or so) another version of Csound, called
"Extended Csound"..
Is it available and what are the differences with the Csound I mess around
with ??

yesterday I did something funny....I made an oscil that sweeps from 10000
hertz to 50 hertz
over a duration of 10 minutes !!!!! All this embedded in a fat reverb of
30 seconds....My parents
went crazy when played this on the hifi.

My parents sayed that it is somewhat weird that I even tend to call this
MUSIC ;-))))

dad: (not really serious) "I think you should pay a visit to a shrink, boy
! "
me : "Why ? I like this, ok ? I'm just experimenting with sound and
signals"
dad : "I don't care what you experiment with, but when you like the shit
you just played, you
are nuts. Music is a physical deed in the first, not tweaking
knobs, there's no skill
         needed for that, only idea's."

(note : my dad was I jazzdrummer in his youth (experimental freejazz),
so he's familiar with
    the experimental side of music)

me: "Yeah, so ? I can't help it I like electronic sounds ! If one wants to
hear a certain sound that cannot
be produced by usual instruments, he should take the right device
and create that sound, isn't it ?"
dad: "yes, but then you are a sound engineer, not a musician, and there is
such thing as health.
your stuff is not healthy, those silly sounds. Like that Francis
Dhomont shit...I don't call this
music. Music is only music when it is produced by a deed of the
physical body. You have
to have the idea's of course, but the physical act is the most
essential. Electronic music is
unhealthy for the composer, as he solely works with his mind, it's
all happening in his head...
switch on the machine and tweak the knobs. I have much more
appreciation for a musician
who trained himself very hard in order to have ultimate control
over his instrument with his
        body. "
me : "you are right about being not a musician, but that it is unhealthy,
that's a little exaggerated"

dad: "What I try to say is, that one becomes alienated from HIMSELF when
physical skills and techniques are
not needed anymore. "

mam : "David, please just don't play your tapes in the living anymore. "

me: "OK, ok......hey dad ! You know what ? Maybe you're right about what
you just sayed, but
         signals, sound or music, I don't care....I LIKE IT ! "

Greets,
David.
