What deriver trick? I don't understand. Normally each MIDI channel is
assigned to the sameinstrument number, if it is found. So if you want to
use, for example, MIDI chan 1 and 2, you must write an orchestra
containing instr1 and instr2.

Yes it is normal. Actually MIDI controllers above 90 are specialized in
other obscure function (I suppose to follow the General Standard, which
I don't like). I removed all the specialized code in DirectCsound 2.0 so
you should use all 127 controllers. The control #64 is still dedicated
to SUSTAIN PEDAL, so I strongly recommend to not use it for other
purposes.
