hi michael,
on the radio station called "MUSIC FROM THE HEARTS OF SPACE"
http://www.hos.com there is a vast quantity of hypnotic music
and past play lists of their music, so you can catch up on
the excellent music there . the term "space music" refers to
psycho-accousticlly derived sensory spacial producing noise.
not so much as electronic sound or outer space music nor science
fiction sound scapes , but psychoaccoustic space ! Try it.
download the real audio GUI at www.real.com , then go to
www.netradio.net and listen to some of the finest textures in the world!
yes i am fastinated with the ambient drone of many types of music
and the effect of it on the human psych. when i owned a recording
studio , i used to tweek up huge ambient pads on various types of analog
synth, and then use the sound to meditate and take naps.
i have done little composition with that because for a while it seemed
as though everyone was going to jump on the band wagon.
virtually all of europe did from what i've heard.
but not so much in the usa , except for new york , washington dc,
california.
out here in the midwest if you turn on a radio the complexity of music
is about like "1910 fruit gum companies ,yummy yummy yummy " sort of
left behind or left out.
i had a few meetings of the midwest electroaccoustic society
and 4 people came to the show!
mostly omaha nebraska is a football town with cowboy music
( but i'm fortunate, all my family was farmers and ranchers
so i like that also, my mother was a T.V. personality and i
been following in her footsteps in my studio and film studies)
I have a few nice drones if i can find them, i'll post for you.
they are not very complex or fancy .orc. but you may like them.
you can email me at 2craig-routt@usa.net if you would like.
