Hi Wayne,
There may be some kind of template in Cakewalk for techno, I don't
know, but any music that I have ever enjoyed could not have been created
from a template. My tastes are for music that breaks tradition, something
that is new and different. Something truly creative not a remake of a style,
form or genre. Creativity comes in many shapes and sizes, usually when you
least expect it. It can be noticed in the droplet of dew on a morning glory
at dawn, perhaps in Silver Apples on the Moon, in a Jean Piche composition,
or maybe an electronica piece that is not accepted in the ranks of modern
electronic music because it is so different that it requires the listener
change his or her way of thinking in order to appreciate it.
     Life is short....
There is a lot of "music" being put out there that I feel is no good
at all (yet millions adore). This could give all music a bad rap. Yet I seek
within myself as a composer and outside myself as a listener to find those
rare gems of quality that do exist. I do however agree that most forms of
techno, electronica and popular music in general sound like they came right
out a can. Yet there are some gems there too.
