Hello,

I'm currently building a graphical Csound Orc environment. I'm
designing it
so that people can develope their own Csound plugin modules so they can
extend
the functionality of the program. I'm definitely NOT a wonderful csound
hacker and I
would like some help on developing a filter plugin to the program. I
need something
that can really bring the power of Csound to a graphical interface.
Something a
little more than just High pass, Band pass, low pass, etc. Although
those ARE
important but I want to build it in such a way that building fractal
based filters
aren't unheard of. Foremost it must be intiutive and easy to use, but
very
powerful. I thought someone out there could help me out with some ideas
on
the design and more importantly the csound CODE that will be generated.
Any takers? I'm developing this in TCL/TK so platform portablity is not

a problem (g), and all plugins can be used by all users. Even if you
don't
want to do the development yourself, just ideas would help me out a lot.

thanks
charlie

Thank you very much for these suggestions, but these are things I already
considered. xcec was set to be executable and I put the link to it in
usr/local/bin. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

even if you've made xcec executable, there's another thing that's
not that obvious. If you try to run xcec (or any other executable) from
the
directory it's in, and you just type the name of the exe (just like
this:
xcec), your system might not find the path, because it doesn't search in
the directory you're in. This behaviour is quite normal to UNIX, the
reason
is that the PATH environment variable isn't set to include the local
direc-
tory (unlike DOS and the like). So if it still doesn't work, type:
			./xcec
in the directory where xcec is located (the "./" stands for the local
direc-
tory).

NOTE: This behaviour is intended due to security measures. You will like
it.
If you don't, change your $PATH settings.

Or maybe the path to wish in the #! line is wrong? When I played around
with cecilia on my red-hat system, I think I needed to change it.

The Linux implementation of Cecilia is a bit flaky as far as the install goes.
As it happens, we just got our Linux system going and we are about to
consolidate all platform sources. Hang tight: we should have version 1.8 at the
end of the week for Mac, SGI and Linux, with some new features and a painless
install (I'll regret saying that, I'm sure...)

Re: Win95. Well, I am sorry to tell you this. There is a Win95 version but it
belongs to Ananlog Devices exclusively for the next 8 months or so. It has been
developped to work with the Extended-Csound running on the SHARC DSP.

No great loss. There will be competitors to the SHARC, I presume.

That was it! I knew that someone would figure it out! Thank you to all
who took the time to reply to my desperate request :) However, there's a
fly in the ointment...now I have yet *another* problem. When running
xcec, I get the following...

can't read "env(CEC_LIBRARY)": no such element in array
    while executing
"set ceclib $env(CEC_LIBRARY)..."
    (procedure "loadSourceFiles" line 3)
    invoked from within
"loadSourceFiles"

"if ![info exists tcload] {loadSourceFiles}"
    (file "/usr/local/lib/cecLINUX/dev/xcec" line 9)

I have CEC_LIBRARY to the /usr/local/lib/cecLINUX directory. If I can
fix this, I'll be there I think...

Hello everbody,

I've done a little revision to the shepard tone gen. in ACCCI collection,
which you can find below. It uses the bellshape curve, which is also present in
ACCCI collection.
Instead of the 10 sinusoidal waves in the original version, I've put double
resonated noises glissanding from high to low. The result sounds like a
landing spaceship.
The problem is, after the first half of the rendered soundfile, the new
generated high frequency noise bands, which will start to do glissando, sound
at that moment much louder. If you look at the soundfile with a colored
sonogram you will easily notice it!

I couldn't bring an explanation. Any idea will be preciated.

Thanks a lot,
