I take back what I said about the plain oscil
not exhibiting the pitch error.
Due to the way oscil works, there is no way the pitch error
would have
been obvious to me, like it was for oscili. The reason is that
the interpolated
points of oscili fell on successively different points in the
sine wave, and
because the sample rate was so low with respect to the
frequency of the
sine wave, this effect shows up on the screen as a gradual
change of
amplitude. (it is, of course, not a real change of amplitude).
Since oscil "interpolates" by choosing
the nearest neighbour,
this anomaly would not occur in a way that would show
up
as obviously as this.
