More interesting maybe , you can get GNU compiler and unix utilities
for Win32 from
Cygnus ( http://www.cygnus.com/misc/gnu-win32/ ) , there is also an
egcs version for
Win32, but I don't know if the pgcc patches can be used for it.
This compiler also have a library with Unix API calls ( they say POSIX
1/1990 at cygnus ), which
make it more easy to port unix-apps to Windows.
There is also a version without unix emulation support called Mingw32,
which should be more
ligthweigth if unix support is not necesarry.
One advantage with this compilers: they're free!
I have'nt tried compiling csound with them buth maybe I will try.
You can also get X-window library
(http://dao.gsfc.nasa.gov/software/grads/win32/X11R6.3/) for
windows and then you can compile and run X-applications in windows,
but you still need a X-server
on your machine.
