Perhaps a quick-n-dirty solution might be to square/cube etc the arate
output from the plain linseg to get a steeper slope, and sqrt to reduce
it? You would not get to exactly a straight line (= exponent of 1), but
you could get pretty close. Actually I suppose that has to be a
slow-n-dirty solution...
