Emagic products are discussed on the following mailing list:
logic-users@mcc.ac.uk
The Audiowerke 8 (AW8) from Emagic, the 1212 from Korg and other cards
all have 8 or more analogue outs.
The problem with the AW8 (which I own) and maybe the others is that the
Windows multimedia driver only allows you to use one stereo output. I
believe I have heard that this may be slated for change in the future,
but I don't know for sure.
These cards are PCI bus cards and therefore are OK on Macs and PC's. I
don't know whether you can use all of the outputs easily on a Mac or
not.
As for adding support to Csound, from the Emagic web site:
http://www.emagic.de/english/news/index.html
"Emagic now makes a comprehensive
Audiowerk8 Development Kit available to
all commercial software manufacturers. The
kit includes all the information that is
required for 3rd party developers to access
the entire functionality of Audiowerk8 from
within their own software."
"3rd Party Developers who would like to
order the Audiowerk8 Development Kit or
obtain more information about the
Audiowerk8 support program can send
their enquiries directly to Emagic by email:
aw8sdk@emagic.de"
I don't know what it costs, but maybe a university could fund one of the
Csound developers for this and similar SDK's?
Cheers
