SubjectANNOUNCE: csound v3.53 version for NeXTSTEP/OpenStep on archives
Hi,

You can now find csound-3.53.NI.gz on the Bath archive, as
ftp://ftp.maths.bath.ac.uk/pub/dream/platforms/next/csound-3.53.NI.gz

NeXT support is now built in to the canonical sources, so this binary
compiled with no changes to the canonical sources. It runs on original NeXT
machines, and PCs running NeXTSTEP3.2, 3.3, or OpenStep 4.x.

You need gzip, or Opener.app to uncompress it. Once uncompressed, rename as
"csound" if necessary, and move to /usr/local/bin

Real-time sound output is supported, but unless you're on a fast(ish)
machine, such as a PC running NeXTSTEP over 200MHz, you won't be able to run
very complex scores without output breaking up.

Real-time sound Input is not supported. The NeXT sound driver does not
support simultaneous (full duplex) recording and playback.

MIDI is not (yet) supported. Maybe in the next version.

Please report any strange bugs that you think may be NeXT related to me.
There could be some lingering byte-swapping issues there. Other bugs to the
list, please.
