I find this is true with granular stuff in general and kind of like it
as an effect. I don't know about ugen GRAIN. However i find to soften
granular stuff i have done I :-
1. Increase the smoothness of the envelope eg. long smooth attack /
decay.
2. Lengthen grains
3. Lopass filter the result.
Has anyone ever managed to do a clean (ie. same as original) timestretch
using granular techniques. I always get a noticeably choppy sound.
I read an article in an old CMJ talking about granular synthesis for
timestretch and this suggested phase matching the grain starts and ends
with other overlapping grains.
