I have some benchmarks online at

Speed: I've run Linux and Win95 versions of csound on the same hardware
(Pentium 133/48) and found that Win95 was actually slightly faster than
Linux/X-windows. However, I'm not sure what compiler was used for the
Win95 version I had (csound95.exe, actually a dos version of csound, I
forget where I got it.) Also, that was only with one orc & sco, and the
Linux version was dynamically linked, while the Win95 was static, I
think. (I should recompile my linux version w/ same compiler for static
linking and see if that makes any difference.)
Reliability: It's probably not very controversial to say that Linux
should be more reliable than Windows 95 or DOS.
As for Macintosh, I have no experience with csound on Macs.
