Does anyone know of a good source for an
introduction to 3d sound programming with stereo headphones? (not necessarily
restricted to csound, although I will eventually be using csound as a
primary tool) I am exploring 3d spatialization as a research and
programming project assignment.
I followed the discussion a while back
about 3d surround sound and ambisonics. However, do I understand
correctly that ambisonics utilizes 4 channel output?
Is anyone aware of the software "3d-Audio"
produced by Climax Software Solutions? Essentially you give the program
sound samples and specify head location and sample playback location, as well as
animation, and room properties. It then calculates a stereo output file to
be listened to in headphones with a somewhat realistic 3d spacial feel to the
sounds as they move through the virtual space. This is the type of
direction I am going, however I want to program the sound localization manually
instead of specifying the sound positioning an movement to a third party
software.
Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
thanks all
