| Happy holidays from the Analog Devices Extended Csound Team!
This is just a short update on the progress of running Csound real-time
on our SHARC DSPs, and a message to some of you who might be interested
in joining the team.
----------------------------------------
UPDATE
We had a successful AES show in New York City this fall. The highlight
of the demonstration included a piece simultaneously playing two tracks
of audio, three tracks of MIDI (wavetable and subtractive synthesis),
global reverb, live keyboard, live vocal harmonizing and guitar
processing (with MIDI-controlled wah-wah). Alex Burton joined us to
show Cecilia running in real-time on the board.
We are now selling our Software Developer's Kits (SDK) to key OEM
customers and developers. If you are interested, please contact the
Software and Systems Technology division at
Systems.Solutions@analog.com, or (781) 461-3732.
The first kit was given to Max Mathews at a reception dinner, which was
a great moment for all of us.
The first product based on an Extended Csound algorithm is the
Generalmusic Vocal Processor, a plug-in board for their WK4, SK76 and
SK88 keyboards. The board enables vocal harmonizations based on MIDI
keyboard chord analysis. Several other customers are working with us to
create various products around Extended Csound, but these are all in the
initial stages.

TEAM EXPANSION
We are currently looking to expand the Extended Csound project team with
the addition of 2 key positions, and expanding our resource of
developers:
1) Audio Projects Manager: will handle new business development and
marketing of Extended Csound, Dolby Digital and MPEG I and II
technologies. Will coordinate internal development in response to
customer requests, and identify and implement strategic goals. Must
have broad technical knowledge of commercial audio field and a keen
business sense of its directions.
2) Software Systems Coordinator: will be responsible for new development
and version control of Csound software. Expertise in C and an intimate
knowledge of Csound inner architecture essential. Experience with SHARC
DSP programming desirable. Will work closely with Csound author Barry
Vercoe to support new customer directions, and to supervise an
international team of other developers.
3) Developers: to create orchestras, opcodes or programs and GUI's for
our customers. Analog Devices would provide examples of developer's
works to customers via the SDK distribution. Our customers would look
at the available resources and decide which would be appropriate. Once
they evaluate the examples, we would put them in touch with the
developer. Because we are a team mostly made up of musicians and
developers like you, we can assure you all intellectual property rights
will be respected.
Please forward this note to anyone who might be interested.

If you have any questions or would like more information on the project,
please contact me.
Sincerely,
Scotty Vercoe
