At ICMC (International Compouter Music Conference, Ann Arbor, 1 Oct-6
Oct) we managed to catch up with Ng from Leeds Computer Music Group;
we asked if they could remove this page as it was a problem, and as I
have previously said, I have received complaints direct to me about
this, but I never got any response from them.

Anyway, Dr Ng seemed genuinely upset, and clearly did not know about
it. I have forwarded him some of the more recent complaints, and I
think we will see action when he gets back to UK and recovers from
jetlag. I should note that as well as myself, Richard Boulanger, Alan
Schindler (Director of the Studios at The Eastman School), and Doug
Sery from MIT Press, all asked for some action from the poor guy. He
got the message!

MIT Press have offered to help maintain a Csound page, and this seems
like a symbiotic process. Clearly we, the community, will have to
monitor and assist, but it seems a good way forward.

Until we get the details with the Press sorted out I will construct a
'temporary' front page, which I could host on a variety of machines,
either in the UK or USA.

The other related issue is FAQ. It appears that a new FAQ has ben
written and is being checked, It should go on the new main page but
as soon as I get back to England on Thursday I will arrange that it is
on teh Bath and UMontrreal ftp servers, and there is a version on the
web somewhere. OK, not immediately as I have to give a lecture as
soon as I get back, so after that.

As you all may appreciate the Book has been taking a lot of time and
energy, and it is not yet totally out of the way; our first priority
for some months has been to nail this. The MIT Press stand at the
ICMC meeting was showing the draft, and it is being fast-tracked for
production. I could not get a strong date from them, but certainly by
1-June-1999. There was also a draft of the CD-ROM which goes with it,
with sound examples etc.

So guys things are going well. If the Leeds page is not taken down I
will post an address for you all to complain(!).
