Platform fight alert!!!!

I disagree with Michael G. that developping music application on Unix is a
mistake. I have and will continue to do so.  In my considered cranky opinion,
Unix is the only computer operating system that is not brain-dead. Raw
performance/price ratios are one thing but usability, flexibility and solidity
are quite another; essential ingredients in making stuff stick together and be
productive, specially in multi-user environments. Anyone running a computer
music network in a University will have lived the nightmare of supporting Macs
and/or PCs...

A true multi-threaded multitasking OS is pre-requisite in my book to make usable
music software. Windows and Macs dont have that. Now, if you say NT... then I'll
have to admit that's Billy's ace in the hole....
