I believe that this has already been pointed out, but
at the risk of doing what I'm complaining about I will
reiterate in the hopes that others might consider it.
Why is spam such a nuisance? (For me) It is because
I have to scan through and delete a bulk of messages
from my mailbox that I don't want to read and which
obfuscate the "real" messages which I then fear will
be accidentally deleted whe I'm blasting the junk out
of my mailbox.
In the past few weeks I've gotten a few spam messages that
I've had to delete from this list and many many times
more messages from list members complaining about it.
On the grounds for nuisance mentioned above, I find that
the complaints are more of a problem (in terms of filling
my mailbox with things that I'm just not interested in
reading) than the spam was.
It is plain at this point that John is aware of the spam
problem and is or will be trying to solve it. I obviously
can't and shouldn't tell people what they may broadcast
on this list...but please be aware that you are broadcasting
to many people and so if you aren't posting a message
that is pertinent to the use of Csound and are echoing
the "yeah I really hate spam" sentiment that you yourself
are creating the same problem as the spam...(again, at least
in my view. I realize that there is a distinction in that
"sexo-rama" or whatever is trying to make money and you
are just broadcasting your thoughts about it...but the net
effect is the same as far as I can see, I have to wade through
a bunch of message of no interest in hopes of finding useful
information. I do find alot of good stuff on this list too.
This is merely something to consider and is not intended as
a chastisement to anybody.
