For me, it comes down to a few things:

+ A printing system that is able to do a fairely good job with few programming
skills, giving most app a decent output (remember, printers always sucked)
+ Word followed by Office (would you do your presentation under Unix ?).
+ A lot of shareware now available (think about getting something like cool edit on
your box)
