Speaking of Csound95:

I finally found the reason why this god damn 3.44 version was sometimes
generating read-only files (at least I think I do ;-). This is enough of an
annoying problem to push me to release the 3.45 so I'll try to grab the
code this week-end and generate a new exe. The only thing is that I don't
know if Steven did put anything like a 3.45 version on the server. This
mail in particular confuses me:

: " This error happens with Csound95 3.44 and the new Win95 Csound version
3.45 with multiple language extensions"

Steven and John, can you get back to me on this one ? Thanks.

And, to add my little cents on this:

: > Last, but not least, your version seems to be at least 50% slower than
: > the old CSound95. Did you switch on the time optimization options?
:
: I know it. It is due to some bug in MSVC++ 2.0 that does not allow
: release version of Csound operate correctly. So the present is a debug
: compilation. I will fix it in the near future.

I do not remember exactly what the status of MVSC 2.0 was. It might also be
that it did not support Pentium optimization nor the full Win32 flat memory
space.

Marc.

a special PS for Gabriel: Following the nettiquette, it is considered to be
rude to broadcast parts of private mails to mailing lists. Although in this
case it is interesting to know your point of view and the related
problems/advantages that might be associated, you might get someone
offended.
