On a Mac, the issue is having access to the direct driver for the sound card,
such as the Digidesign Audio Engine in the case of a Digi card.  There is no
way to go through the general Sound Manager and do anything beyond mono and stereo.
        For Digi, this involves having the SDK which involves signing
contracts and such, as well as coming up with a ProTools system.  Were these
two available to me, I would be happy + interested to do the actual coding
necessary.  So if anyone can provide them, let me know.
