SubjectAbout possible 'xyin' extensions
I wrote an orchestra file today with the sole
purpose of adding some reverb effects to a
very long sound file that I had recorded straight
into my /dev/dsp.

I knew that in the past, I had spent much time
adjusting parameters such as reverb time and amount,
hi-decay etc. in an orchestra, using compiled output
or direct dac output as a reference. This time,
I decided to get right to the point, using 'xyin'
as a direct input device controlling such parameters.

A couple of thoughts presented themselves to me as
I went about this task of integrating many xyin
controllers into my orchestra.

I wished for an additional optional argument to
xyin, which would provide text for the window's
title bar. This would help me keep many xyin
windows straight in my mind as to their function
in my score while they were scattered about my screen.

I wished for small, inset floating-point text values
to be displayed in a corner reflecting the window's
current values, so that I could tune my orchestra
with xyin, and then record the proper values
so that I might later hard code them into my score.

Fantasy parameters included a window's initial width,
height and position. This would spare me the
tedious task of 'repositioning' each window upon
its invocation.

Thanks,

Toby
