The messages you are getting about unknown command is on account of
the blank lines, which are not in the specification -- perhaps it
should be.
  So far I have only tried it on Linux and it is otherwise OK
Actually it works Ok on Consound as well, using Windows95.  I do not
have access to W98 so cannot check that.  No idea how to proceed on
this one.
