I have been asked to draft a syllabus for a final year computing
science course on computer music -- we have been teaching speech for
some years but the researcher in that area retires at teh end of the
year. This course is aimed at mathematically able computer students,
with (modest) programming and software engineering skills. I cannot
assume much mathematical knowledge, but it would be legitamate to
teach mathematics.
Clearly my bias is towards using Csound, and some of the
computational problems, but I thought I would ask if anyone else has
experience of such a course, and if so what they cover. I have some
time to get this arranged, as it would not run until late 2000, so a
draft by September/october is my aim.
I am not sure if this is of interest to any but me, so personal
e-mail might be best, althiugh there may be some general issues in
education here. |
