Hello Richard, I have no doubt that your posts are hugely important for beginners and intermediate users (I say as an intermediate user I am and as a beginner user I was). I ask you (and sure many others that do not dare to say) to continue posting as you do in the last time. Just *1* example: your polite request about the "Exponentian corona" composition is very useful for intermediate users. Please **do not** get this as a compliment, i try to show a **fact**. By the way, i have not doubt that the reminder mail of John Fitch is unfortunately fully useless, most of beginners feel embarrassed to post here, and there is no solution to that. Kind regards, csoundercsounder |

Thanks for the link Rory. Especially nice to see the discussion about using the serial opcodes with an Arduino. This is something that I am currently working on for my summer class in CircuitBending and Physical Computing. you're not the first and will not be the last of commenting on the highly abstract computer sciency discussions taking place on the mailing list. I recommend beginners too, to join our slack channel. The #general channel on our slack tends to be much more csound usage and quick "anykindof" questions. On Wed, 20 May 2020 at 17:59, Dr. Richard Boulanger <rboulanger@berklee.edu> wrote:

Funny, I was just about to ask if perhaps we should create a channel on the slack specifically meant for newbies seeking help. I've also found the slack to be very responsive and welcoming for all types of questions and discussions. On Wed, May 20, 2020 at 1:06 PM Hlöðver Sigurðsson <hlolli@gmail.com> wrote:

Although I like the quick response of slack, it doesn't build a database of searchable and useful questions/answer type dialogues that a forum or mailing list does. On Wed, 20 May 2020 at 18:16, Kevin Welsh <tgrey1@gmail.com> wrote:

Agreed, but sometimes that's exactly what makes a difference in discouraging a newbie user from asking a question that might be seen as obvious to more experienced users. It's also great for confirming things with users of other OS's before opening bugs etc. Both definitely have their uses and benefits!
