| Fellow CSounders--
Regarding the manual, perhaps it is time to work out a common format,
one in which new ugens and a version update list would be a standard
part.
What I propose is this: a manual that would add addendums for each
version update, placed on a common FTP site (Bath would be my
suggestion), in PDF and Postscript formats, as well as MS Word.
I would be willing to keep the manual updated, and I would use a format
that would be broken down into sections (ugens, score, GENs, and
appendixes) so that anything new could just be added on with a
minimum of page renumbering.
What I would also suggest is that a common format be made for the
introduction of new ugens, to follow the format given in the original
CSound manual. Submissions would include parameters, explanation
and usage, and a short example of implimentation. Anyone else
interested?

I have already done this in the Mac online manual, which, of
course, is only readable on a Mac. If you don't have one, I would be
happy to send you what I have done in .rtf format. I have all but the
3.45 ugens included. The mac online naturally does not have sections like
how to format the Unix command line. I would suggest that each of the
machine specific sections be stored as a separate document.
The online version is a DOCMaker application. I don't know if
there is something similar available for PC's, but the format works very
well on Macs.

and the Robin Whittle opcodes. I've also done it as a Windows help file,
and planned just to wait for the voscili documentation before putting it
on a web page. I suggest we mail each other to work things out (like a
common format) - would be good to avoid multiple efforts in the future.

Do not know what PDF is, and I cannot read postscript or MS Word
without many contortions. How about a format which is actually
READABLE? Thought that would be too much to ask.

But there is a format already, surely.

What about HTML? Doesn't everybody have a browser anyway? Nice to read,
easy to print, and a separate Windows help file would not be necessary.
