This is an attempt to clear up a bit of confusion about the current Mac PPC
version of Csound.

There are still a couple of bugs in the Mills PPC version which includes the
3.47 code (mostly to do with MIDI). It has not been released yet. We will
let everyone know when it is released.
jpff has compiled a Mac version of the 3.47 code, without the Mills front end
or perf enhancements. That is what is on the bath server at present. It will
be replaced by the Mills version once its ready. So if you want to mess with
the new opcodes, the temporary Mac version is the way to do it.
When the Mills version is released, it will be at:

No promises here for perfect results, as i haven't dealt with quad output,
but Digital Performer does enable you to slightly nudge selected tracks out
of synch. Or it could be nudged in csound before moving into DP or other
commercial software...

(check to see if free ProTools 3.4 still offered)
www.digidesign.com

of course compatibility with your sound card(s) is essential, and this is
what might make it necessary to leave csound in the first place. but such
commercial aps do have their virtues. Anyway, presumably, nudging may
satisfactorily compensate for the above phenomenon *if* analog and digital
outputs may be simultaneously used on a single card. But if two cards are
used, as suggested above: drifting will have to be addressed with a common
clock from MOTU or some other source.

mmm. one milli? in DP, may have to mess with tempo settings and time
feature to trick the software into that kind of resolution without
affecting playback speed, (480 ticks per quarter is limit as midi
reportedly not good for any more than that, and DP which also handles midi,
used that number as a benchmark).

absolutely.

v3.471 on
ftp://ftp.maths.bath.ac.uk/pub/dream/platforms/mac/PCCsound.hqx

note that the file is listed as PCCsound. i imagine this is the result of
an original filename of PPC Csound that got clipped. anyway, the main
difference for me is that the older one compiles sdII's and aiff's and the
newer doesn't. Maybe the result of an extension conflict on my Power 132
but, as the even newer Mills version has been heralded by Mr. Fitch, and is
reported to be near completion, i am content to wait rather than
troubleshoot.

hmmm... great work Gabriel, but are you not exposing yourself to copyright
violation by calling it RTsound? In any regards, I am not certain this is a good
idea. It gives the distinct impression that Gabriel's code is in fact a
different program, which it is'nt...

Hallo dear CsoundPeople !

I try to use the opcode "tableseg" or "tablexseg" in the example of the
manual, but PCCsound.1(Version3.47) says: "no legal opcode":

ktime line 0, p3, 3 ; 3 =3D p3 ?
		tablexseg 1, p3*.5, 2, p3*.5, 3
apv vpvoc ktime, 1, "pvoc.file"

with

f1 0 256 5 .001 128 1 128 .001
f2 0 256 5 1 128 .001 128 1
f3 0 256 7 1 256 1

=BF=BF "tablexseg no legal opcode" ! =20

Why not?=09

Hallo dear CSoundPeople!

Of course "tablexseg" and "tableseg" aren`t opcodes, but I nevertheless
can`t work with them.

Peter

Well, RTsound is only a nickname of my version of csound to avoid
confusion with other versions for Win95 (for example 'Winsound', all
these new names rhyme with 'Csound'). The true name of course will
remain 'Csound' for ever and so its copyright ;-)

(P.S. excuse me if anyone could be offended, it was not my intention)

Best
