Another beta version of 3.47

Date1997-09-25 18:45
Fromjpff@maths.bath.ac.uk
SubjectAnother beta version of 3.47
this time for SGI. I have placed a file on the server
(ftp.maths.bath.ac.uk) called
        pub/dream/platforms/unix/Sgi/csound_beta_5.3

this is a binary of the 3.47 version I am testing. I suspect I have
the MIDI out all wrong. I have also revised/extended the release
notes and teh draft is in
        pub/dream/documentation/Version3_47Beta.Notes

I am looking for any feedback on whether these versions work.
The Linux version is coming on as well. I am getting close to a
release I think.

Due to my usual level of confusion the beta version I installed
yesterday was in fact a Irix4.0 binary rather than a 5.3. I have just
placed a 5.3 version in the file
       pub/dream/platforms/unix/Sgi/csound_beta_5.3

and it is
ELF 32-bit MSB dynamic executable (not stripped) MIPS - version 1

Sorry; they have upgraded the University machines to 5.3 but I still
run 4.0 at home.

Will there be problems running on IRIX6.2?

No problems at all. It should run fine.
Anyways, John, if you want a 6.2 version I can compile it. Let me know
where I can get the current sources.

Greetings,

don't really know if it may be the source of your error, but the last
version of csound.ppc is called 'Csound' (alone, without the '.ppc' thing)
and it works much better than the previous one. i think there's a link to
it from the Csound front page at
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/music/Man/c_front.html (don't remember where i got
it from).
