| Hi,
I'm having a problem with an ftable as follows:
f1 0 32768 -7 -8192 32768 8192
FTERROR, ftable 1: gen call has negative segment size:
f 1 0.0032768.00 -7.00-8192.00 ...
Can't see what I'm doing wrong - reducing the table size to 16384 solves the
problem. I'm using v3.53 on a 68k Mac.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve Cook.

Is it possible to get the Csound mailing list postings in digest format?

Steve,
If I'm not mistaken, the maximum table size is 16384, so if you go above
that, you may risk getting some sort of wraparound with that value, & if
the value is stored as a signed integer, then the wraparounded value could
be negative.

Ah, sorry, woops, I should've checked the Csound documentation BEFORE
emailing the list. The maximum ftable size isn't 16384, it's 16777216,
about 1,000 times the size of what I said it was. Sorry. My previous post
should be ignored.

Would it be possible to add a feature to Csound that gave percent-done
message for each note created? That would be such a wonderful little bonus
feature. I tend to create very computationally complex instruments that
often take hours to be written into a sound file & it would be so helpful
sometimes to have some clue as to how long a particular note will be going
for.

You could put statements into your score file like:
f 0 1
f 0 2
f 0 3
f 0 4
...
This will print out the progress of the file at a given point - in the above
example, every second.

The command-line flag -H3 gives seconds of output sound.
Not what you ask for, but still useful if you know how
long the end result should be.

Steve,
I tried your Gen01 instrument with a file I generated with Csound
and it worked beautifully. The original sound file came from a CD
imported by Sound Hack. Don't know what the problem is but Csound
didn't like the file. Thanks for your/everyone's help.

there is the heartbeat thing..

that...

anyone have any example midi orc+sco for realtime midi input, (not from
a midi file)? i just finished a new program for my palm pilot that
emulates a theremin and sends out midi signals. i would like to test
this with csound. i have used very little midi with csound, so this is
a bit new to me!
if you have a palm pilot, check out my software at
http://www.bigfoot.com/~bantha/pilot.html
i also have info on building a serial-to-midi interface linked on this
page. comments/suggestions welcome!
