Does not Csound run? I can think of no reason (except Micro$oft boloody-
mindedness) why it should not. If it does not run could you be more specific?
Actually I do not knopw anyoneusing Windows98 to ask...

I didn't know about it. It seems to me like some undocumented
feature... is it possible?

So, where does chann#=instr# go?
In the instr definition? Header? Score?

Also I have another question. I haven't tried it yet but maybe
someone has some experience:

is csound listening to the input port or will it also accept internal
MIDI communication (from MAX or a sequencer for ex.)?

Thanx

Hi all,

One more question/suggestion.

Is there a way of activating perf without clicking on the "render"
button?

I would like to control the start of rendering from a MAX patch.

CSound doesn't seem to understand Apple events.
(or my apple scritping is not adequate :) ).

csound sends an apple evnt of Class	'VRed'
and ID	'Cmmd'
with a string parameter (which contains the command line)
when launching Perf (so an openDoc event is never sent)

if you can convert this to applescript i would be interested and
appreciated (ive never
used applescript)

Hi all,
I have been trying to use DirectCsound for simulaneous wave in and
out. I have a soundblaster AWE64 with the latest drivers, and DirectX 5.2
running on win95 with a 233mhz pentium. I use this setup for realtime MIDI
in -> wave out with success. I've tried realtime wave input with a variety
of comman-line flags, but I get either no input or an "unable to create
directX object" error message. My test orc is printed below.
Has anyone been able to get realtime full-duplex wave in/out with
the awe64?

Thanks,
Mark Vigorito

Microsoft DirectX doesn't support audio IN yet. So it is possible to use
audio IN together with audio OUT only with the old MME windows driver.
You must have two audio cards or a full-duplex card. Notice that the
Soundblaster 16 audio IN is automatically reduced to 8-bit resolution
when using full-duplex. I don't know if this restriction is present also
for the AWE64.
To use both audio in and out with midi, you must call my version of
Csound with the following flags:

csound.exe -+K -+q -+e -+p12 -b800 -i pluto.orc pluto.sco

It is suggested to use sr=32000 or sr=40000 when using old MME drivers.

Good luck

DX5 does input through DirectSoundCapture, but it's implemented as an
emulation layer on top of waveIn*().

Greetings:

I'm testing MIDI control of Csound with an external sequencer. It
works fine, and I'd like to get a decent set of violin samples for a
particular piece. Looped AIFF files would be best, but I can convert
to/from a wide variety of formats. Are there any public-domain
collections of samples of standard orchestral instruments ? TIA...

Here is a fairly nice set, AIFF with loops.
Csound loscil should know what to do with these.

	ftp://198.176.199.138/pub/violin_sound/

As for the the public-domainityismness of these,
I'm not sure. I ripped them out of a patch set
for a synth (Korg I think?) that I found available
on the internet. Surely one is able to sell the
music that one creates with these synthesizers,
but does that mean that you have to own the synth
in order to do so?

It's really available! I've got it, but I don't know how to unpack it in
Win95.
Can anybody help me?
By the way, do you know about Signum 1100DX Digital Sampler?
It is a beta version of virtual sampler for Win95, and it's available in
http://www.signum.it/1100/1100.htm

Hi folks. Mac laptops seem to have a reputation for being noisy. A friend
of mine is trying to sort through the morass of info/mis-info re pros and
cons with a view to purchasing such a beast and running sound apps thereon.
 Anyone?

Cheers
