Indeed. Narrow pulse waves have _lots_ of harmonics (as many as infinite), and you'll have frequencies above sr/2 even for low fundamentals.
In digital synthesis any method, graphical or other, generating a perfect pulse wave (with or without width modulation) will produce aliasing, this is something inherent to the limitations of digital to analog conversion.
Lowpass filtering well below the Nyquist frequency may alleviate somewhat the problem, but only for fundamentals in the lowest range.
Approximating to the pulse wave by sum of sinusoids (for example with buzz, as Josep suggests) is no doubt a much better solution.

For short to moderately long sounds use GEN 01 and run an oscil backwards
to reverse a sound (the sound has to fit in memory).
For longer sounds use diskin with a -1 for kpitch to reverse the sound.

You should have three different outputs from the reson. Send only
the one you want to the reverb.

Apparently my mail server didn't want to send this during the
weekend. Here goes again.
Look at the if...kgoto opcodes in the manual (under the entry
PROGRAM CONTROL STATEMENTS). In practise, you will have to
make a jump inside your instrument. Your funky imagination will
have to stretch towards:
apeak = awhatever ; Your sound
itest = 3300
; You can only do gotos at i- or k-rate, so
; apeak must be downsampled, perhaps like this.
kpeak downsamp apeak, ksmps
; now test Kpeak & do conditional processing on Apeak
if kpeak < itest kgoto noverb
gareverbsig = gareverbsig + apeak
kgoto continue ; skip non-reverb processing (if any)
noverb: ; This is a label, ie a jump target
; do non-reverb processing (if any)
continue:
; continue instr processing here
But if you are anyway doing three separate reson filters,
couldn't you process just one of them directly, like:
instr 10
anoise rand 10000
aband1 reson anoise, 110, 10
aband2 reson anoise, 330, 20
aband3 reson anoise, 3300, 50
gareverbsig = gareverbsig + aband3
aamp linseg 20000, p3, 0 ; (whatever)
anoise balance (aband1 + aband2 + aband3), aamp
out anoise ; (perhaps)
endin
?
And again, every time you have a problem with the Csound language,
you must include full orc and sco files (preferably edited to the
minimal version which still causes the problem) - else it will
be much harder to help.
Cheers,

I noticed the same problem with 3.47. (I've had success with midi input
using 3.46) Are you using GNU libc6 (glibc) on linux instead of libc? I
can no longer compile 3.47 due to a missing tell() function call in glibc,
and I'm in the process of patching csound to use ftell() instead. I'm
pretty sure this is related to why soundin isnt working as it should,
using the static csound 3.47 binary. That binary was compiled against
regular libc with the tell() function.

Glad (?) to know that someone else is not receiving the MAX list (so it's
not my provider's fault)
I've just visited the MCGill University home page and they say something
about activity suspension because of an ice storm. It seems that the mail
will be available next monday.

Hello !
I'm sorry if I'm not right, but it seems that few source files are
missed in 3.47version "csound_src.zip" (got from /newest dir on Bath ftp
site). First is "ugensa.c" (found in "csound.tar.gz" from the the same
dir). The others are files where some functions must be implemented:
functions, declared in "physutil.h" ("make_ADSR" and others), and
functions, declared and used in "MidiSend.c" ("midiOutOpen" and others).
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Yuri Pavlovetsky.

Q actually stands for "Quality" and is defined as the ratio of the center
frequency to the band width, i.e., Q = CF/BW, where CF and BW are specified
in Hz. It's a more musically useful (or intuitive) parameter than the band
width, itself, because as the center frequency is swept over the full
frequency range, the width of the band must change proportionally in order
for the quality of the filter to sound the same. Obviously, a high Q means a
relatively narrow band width (i.e., BW is a small value in Hz, compared to
the CF). This results in a sharp peak in the frequency response at the CF;
the sharper the peak, the greater the "resonance" at that point in the spectrum.

Is anyone out there using Cecilia under Linux? How did you get it to set
up and run? I have just downloaded the latest binaries for Linux and i
can't get "xcec" to run to save my life. Help!

If there were a Csound FAQ, this question would undoubtdedly be near the
top of the list.
A few of use went down this road, and I would guess the most likely case
is that the path to wish in the first line of the "xcec" script doesn't
specify the correct path. Try "which wish", and make sure it matches what
is spec'd on the !# or #! (I don't remember which) line.
Failing that, I don't know. Is xcec perhaphs not in your path and you are
forgetting to use "./xcec" to explicitly specify looking in the current
directory.
It really would have helped if you would have been more specific. I mean,
did bash actually say, "I can't get xcec to run to save your life"?
I kind of doubt that.

Dear trkkaZulu,
Do you have tcltk installed and running? How long have you been running Linux?
Sorry, but the currently available Linux version of Cecilia is *not* supported.
You have to have your chops up to get it going... but it does work.
The upcoming version of Cecilia will include Linux support.
Regards

hi
I'm sending this again, as it seems to get lost somewhere.
using adsyn in linux-3.47 gives an error: partials exceeds MAXPTLS.
the same hetro-file and orc works with 3.46, but with 3.47 comes this
error. This with Linux, don't know about other platforms.

Yes I ran the Linux version under MachTen(BSD4.4 X11R6 tcl7.4 tk4.2) when
I had a Mac. I
had to mess with it a little but it was easy. Make sure you have tcl/tk
installed in a good place /usr/local/bin is where I had them and edit
your .cshrc (if you use that) to include the dir that xcec is sitting
in. I had to use chmod on xcec also.... make the script executible...
how far do you get before it craps out?

Hi
I tried adsyn with the result that no matter what the hetro-file
contains, csound 3.47 gives error: partial count exeeds MAXPTLS, doing
the same with 3.46 works ok (using just defaults) . I'm running Linux-
version.

0. Try to get it to run when you're any "user", NOT "root"!
1. Enter "wish" on the command line:
/home/"username" > wish
If you see a window popping up, continue with 2.,
if there's a message like:
"bash: wish: command not found" , continue with 1b.
1b. Install tcl/tk (is on your Linux Cd for sure) as "root"!
Login as "user" again. Restart the shell by typing "exit".
2. Now move to the directory where xcec is in (as "user"), and
type:
/dir/to/xcec > wish ./xcec
3. Mail the error message to the list . If there's no error, and
xcec is running, do the funny stuff. Be careful - you should
be root only in step 1b!!
