SubjectRe: More than two channels
Windows95 currently does not support more than one soundcard. Still,
there are some proprietary solutions. Turtle Beach offers soft-
ware for their "Maui" card that supports up to 4 (I think) cards
being used simultaneously. Also, the Maui is pretty cheap and good
enough to use. There are more expensive Multi-I/O solutions for ex-
ternal hardware that support 8 channels or more (one is called "digi-
sound", I think). Does anyone know if multiple soundcards work with
Linux in any way?

greetings:

VisORc looks worthy of exploration, but I cannot get past compile: it
appears that the prog passes an invalid command lines switch to csound (-=
X,
as near as I can make out). All config params re csound itself work
generally, and my sound system functions perfectly.

can someone (the author perhaps) help me. FYI: this is on win95 (don't
know of other vers exist but I CMA)

thank you very much (forgive me if I haven't addressed the list properly =
=2E
=2E . and instruct in proper method, please)

Jim

Yes, these are the cards I would consider since they seem to offer the most
bang for the buck, but in order to listen to it I need some way to amplify
all four channels. I originally considered running two stereo amplifiers
and four speakers (which I will probably end up trying since I already have
this equipment.) However, I was intrigued by the "Dolby Digital Ready"
systems by Technics since they seem to be able to handle six individual
inputs. Does anyone know of other quadraphonic capable amplifiers?

Hans out.

4front makes a sound driver for nearly all BSD/SVR4 UNIX based OSs such as
Linux/Alpha. See http://www.4front-tech.com . When I last checked, the
best boards supported (or w/ support planned) under Linux/Alpha were
Zefiro Acoustics ZA2 (2 RCA, S/PDIF, AES/EBU), SONORUS (4 ch digital I/O),
and 'SB 64 AWE GOLD' (S/PDIF).

It seems to be that the PC box does not accept two Soundblaster due to IRQ
conflicts or the like.
I was said that by a PC guru.
