| This program is baffling me for three days. What are the exact steps
for using this program. I hit the instr button, load a wav file, set
the range on the keyboard press ok, and it does nothing. I tried the
"parameters" menu, but it doesn't respond. Is there a manual or
document for this program. Or can anyone walk me through a setup.

Once you have loaded a keyboard layout, you need to return to the mixer
screen to actually "play" a midi file. The currently available version of
SoftSamp does not play in real time. It uses CSound to generate a sound
file from a Midi file.
The new version of SoftSamp will play in real-time. I hope to release the
new version very soon. I just haven't had time to finish it yet...if there
were only three of me! Of course, some would consider that a problem..:}
