| Forgive my ignorance, but could someone tell me something about Linux and
its benefits re csound?
1) will it run on a pentium clone pc?
2) will it run windows and dos software?
3) is quasimodo written for it?
4) is Cecilia written for it?
5) is it free?
Thanks.

Sometimes, with the two programs DOSEMU, and WINE.

Yes, but it is not entirely straightforward to compile at this point in
time. The need for 128 MB of combined RAM/swap prevents me
from doing so, unfortunately!

Hi guys,
I had an instrument that used the "diskin" opcode, and now with CSound
PPC 3.55 no matter whether I used a skiptime or not, it says
"invalid skiptime past end of file."
and aborts. The audio file is fine, and it doesn't matter whether I omit
the skiptime, use 0.0 or some other valid positive value. Anyone else
encountered this problem?
Brandon

Looks like in wgpluck (pluck.c), the exitation signal is simply added to
the output, without being introduced into the waveguide, as what appears
to be done correctly in wgpluck2 (repluck.c).
History on these two opcodes, anyone? Why are there two different ones?
Is "wgpluck" considered obsolete/buggy and left in for compatibility?
Should I submit a patch to fix this bug?
Incidently, it is only by accident that I discovered this, since it is
not clear from the doc for wgpluck that the "aexcite" param can be zero
(why isn't it optional then), if you just want an ideal pluck
excitation. It isn't very clear the way it's doc'd, I thought at first
that aexcite was a "pluck" signal that would be applied to the waveguide
at the pluck point. (How can I submit a patch to the manual?)

sorry,
this is a new error message i included - making sure
skip time is valid, but i put it in the wrong place
in the code!
i dont see a workaround, either..
this should only be with the PPC version.
a fix should be out soon.

You're quite right. That's the way to do it. After all the "instrument file"
(e.g. orc file) is nothing but a preset of the modular plugin (e.g. Michael
Gogins' Csound shared library with VST2 interface).
