LFO stands for Low Frequency Oscillator. LFOs are typically used to generate
control signals. In some of the old analog synths, the standard oscillators
used for tone generation weren't capable of producing subaudio frequencies
(< 20HZ), which are required for such things as vibrato, tremolo, phasing,
etc. So some manufacturers added specially designed low frequency
oscillators for this purpose, which were commonly referred to as LFOs.

well, damn, it certainly isnt quiet around here anymore. i thought thats what
LFO might mean. i got like 15 replies in under an hour. my service provider
might charge me extra if all this high volume mail keeps coming through.
anyway, thanks all.

Hi all,

Here comes my contribution to a bit csound net traffic :-)

Is somebody informed about the current status of the Sharc/Csound
project? I'd like to know whether to wait some months or to buy the
Clavia Nord Modular which is not that flexible as csound but a
comparable device. It would be interesting, what type of DSP the Nord
Modular has...
Analog Devies is offering an evaluation board for $170 which is pretty
cheap compared to Modular ($1900), quite tempting.
