Building consound

SubjectBuilding consound
I find that every time I download the Csound sources from dream, I must add
the following line to midisend.c:

#define __RPCASYNC_H__

just above the line:

#include

I suspect that this is a problem only for those of us who build using Visual
C++ version 6, but it should probably be added to the canonical sources.

I also build starting with consound.mdp. Visual C++ converts this to
consound.dsp. I then need to add the following files to the project:

ugsc.c
getstring.c
fout.c

There may be more that I can't recall...

I had the same problems with using realtime midi input. I thought maybe I
was forgetting a step in my composition, so I asked Dave Philips who
kindly sent me a couple of demo orc/scos for use with midi input. They
compiled fine, but no sound would come out when I played. I did a cat
/dev/midi > /dev/ttyx to make sure my midi port worked, which it did. Any
ideas what's wrong with the current release?

This whole problem is the reason why I'm currently trying to compile the
latest Linux developer's version. This annoying 'ld -lbsd' problem has
still got me stuck though. As I understand it, the bsd libs aren't
seperate anymore or something to that effect. The later Redhat versions
put a little workaround that allows you to use makefiles that use the
-lbsd option without having to change anything. I don't have that option,
and simply downloading those files from another machine hasn't worked
either. I'm at a loss here.

Jason

There is a new webpage at www.geocities.yahoo.com/Area51/Shire/5788

I added a Star Trek MIDI page, on which you can download or listen to
Star Trek themes.
My CD will feature these in WAV format.
Thinking about AIF and AU instead.

Working with the webpage, testing it out, I learned alot about Webpages
and how to use the browser and Beatnik (www.beatnik.com) as a directory
for music to be played.
Warning: You need a fast modem. I am using 33.6, but see if i can use
another.

Could someone try my link and let me know what you think?
