| There has been a recent spat of postings on Linux/Cecilia install woes. This is
somewhat normal since we will not support linux properly until the next release.
However, Cecilia does work on Linux with a few caveats:
1- If you use the tcl/tk8.0, you will have to change the "::" characters in the
undo.tcl file for something like "@@" or "**". This has to do with special oop
codes new in tcl8.0.
2- The current installation of Cecilia on Linux is very touchy about environment
variables and about where you put your files. A good understanding of Linux and
Unix in general is essential.
3- Cecilia requires the latest 3.47 Csound for many of its modules to work.
THe next Cecilia, due out soon, should make all this less problematic...

Are well..... it depends what you want.
I have running opcodes for clarinet, flute, bowed string, brass, marimba,
vibraphone, and a couple of others. If what you want is the sounds then
wait a short while. If you want to construct your own physical
models, then there is a mini project there in which you could assist.

All those quoted headers after the status line make this list almost
impossible for those of us who are blind, and read the list with speach.
If there were a standard string like "status" we could search down to there, and read below.
Or perhaps the list could be made like it was, and not quote the headers after
the status line.
Thanks.

I have seen cool edit pro run on multiple cards as well as cakewalk pro
6. (is that the latest?) all under winslug 95. Its impressive but a pain
if something isnt working. I think SoundForge can do this too. dont use
a PC personally but I did see it running.

It has digital in/out, analog stereo in and 8 channels analog out, all of which operate in parallel. In addition, it has support for an ADAT daughter-board (8 digital in/ 8 digital out) that supposedly also operates in parallel. What I do is split my quadraphonic output file into four mono files, then load these files into the 8-track recorder program that comes with the card. The method is a bit kludged, but it works without using an external multitrack recorder. It takes one to five minutes to go from a compiled quadraphonic sound file to playback on the 8-track recorder program.

There is a DSP kit called SPKIT that runs under NeXTStep, SGI, and just
about any unix. I have tested it under a few BSD systems. I dont remeber
the url but it seemd to me that I found it on a site in norway or
denmark... I know Im not much help but its a start. SPKIT is in C++
with ObjC for NeXTStep and
has a reverb object(C++ source and ObjC source).

There is an application that allows anyone to use up to sixteen outputs
(using two ARC-88). It is called Samplitude Studio, and you may find
information about it on www.sekd.com
The application can address up to four standard sound cards to use four
stereo pairs of outputs. Optionally, you can use up to two ARC 88 (eight in
eight out soundcard) also from SEK'D.
The application is basically a DAW in software, with unlimited number of
tracks, only limited by your PC capabilities.

It's because of Tcl/Tk 8.0. This version introduces namesspaces and is
not 100 percent compatible to earlier versions. Simply use Tcl7.6 and
Tk4.2 and be happy.
