I have (eventually) placed the revised csound-orc and csound-sco
editing modes for emacs on my server. These know the new opcodes, and
other syntax changes. I have made a number of minor modifications.
There are still some problems, but I at least use these regularly and
am finding the layout and font-lock stuff useful.
  They are in pub/dream/utilities/Emacs-macros/...

PS I am part-way through building the Atari version of 3.473

Does anyone know of a quad file player for the PowerPC?
I have been recently been experimenting with the outq opcode in Csound, and
although Csound will generate a quad file, I don't have an application which
can handle the format.
I have tried using Tom Erbe's Soundhack, to convert to mono soundfiles (which I
could then route to seperate channels in Logic Audio, but Soundhack always
generates files of length=0 (which is very strange!).
I am using a PowerPC 8600/200 with 28meg of RAM, and an Audiowerk8 audio
card.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Probably the best way to do this is to make two separate runs through csound,
generating "front" and "rear" stereo files, which can then be split into four
mono files to be used by Logic or Deck or Protools.

 Hello;
Does anyone know why an 'illegal table length' occurs using GEN1 if
I try to read in a 'name.wav' file, set the format =0. And
then set the length in the f statement = to the exact number
of samples in the wav file, and WAV box is checked in the winsound
field, Or if you set the format=0 in GEN01 is it expecting to read
the sample format from the header of a 'AIFF' file only , so '.wav'
file into a table unit is not an option?

for the file size, you should either set the file size to a power of two
larger than the file, or set the size to 0, and the file size will be
read from the .wav header. but i think if you do the latter, you can
only use the ftable in loscil. read up on that in the manual

Hello,

I am a newbie and thought I would say hi.
I am a hobbyist with a 486DX2/66. (Say I'm
not dreaming, pleeeease!)
I'm a fan of electronic music (Morton Subotnik
is one of my faves) and I'm a little bored with
sample-based instruments. I'm looking for a
broader pallette but I can't afford a K2500 either
so I thought I would give Csound a try. I think
it's a real privilege to have access to such a
system as Csound given its illustrious history and
power. Anyway I'm just getting started. So far
I've just compiled a few example programs. I was
wondering, how do you convert the Csound file to a
.WAV file? Thanks, and I look forward to interacting
with all of you on the list! :-)

Hi, welcome to the dreamworld of Csound.

IF you're running Windows (rather than DOS or Linux) you
could try the win help file, from:
   http://hem.passagen.se/rasmuse/Csound.htm
else (or if you prefer) you should get the HTML manual:
   ftp://ftp.musique.umontreal.ca/pub/
-- get file CsManual3.47.tar.gz (or similar, whichever
looks newest)

Also, check if these notes are of any help:
   http://hem.passagen.se/rasmuse/PCinstal.htm
- you seem to have gotten through the installation bit
though, so perhaps they are no use.

To get WAV files, use the -W flag at the command line.

Cheers,

	re

I am currently running MIT Csound version 3.472 on Linux. I have an
AWE32 soundcard which seems to be pretty decent for both audio
rendering and midi I/O.

I have been trying to make use of the realtime MIDI input feature
("-M" I believe) but there seems to be a problem (I can give more
specific information to anyone interested). I have looked through the
source and have some idea as to where the problem is, but I was hoping
to first find out if anyone else out there has encountered this
problem and found an easy (or at least feasible) way around it.

I would also be interested to know what sort of applications and setup
(hardware and software) other linux users out there are using. I have
been very impressed with csound's synthesizing capabilities but have
yet to find a feasible way to compose music for it. Is there a
Cakewalk for linux out there?

Thanks,

David R.

I just started using Csound a few weeks ago. I run Winsound for the
Win95 platform and like you have been really impressed with it's abilty
to synthesize sounds and samples, exactly to order if you will, but also
like you have had trouble composing with it (it could also be my lack of
experience :). I don't have much more then a rudamentary knowlege of
musical composition and was wondering if anyone can recomend a program
that will run in DOS or Windows95 that has more of a graphical
interface. So I could use Csound to generate my samples and a seperate
program to put them together into a compositional score.

And is there a way to have Csound read a WAV file into a score? or
convert a WAV file into Csound format?
